Domino’s Interpack offering captures the imagination of the packaging market

  • Publicado el 27 de Junio de 2014

Domino Printing Sciences pulled in the crowds at interpack 2014 (8th – 14th May 2014) through its comprehensive range of coding and marking technologies. Demonstrating a number of new products and technology enhancements from its broad portfolio, Domino directly addressed the core themes of the event and generated a healthy footfall across the six days at the Messe Düsseldorf in Germany.

With the visiting packaging community chiefly focussed on production efficiencies, substrate variation, quality of application and secure serialisation, the Domino stand presented a range of customer propositions that were capable of accommodating such demands. This led to a high level of visitor engagement, with many actively looking to fine-tune and grow their packaging businesses with Domino.

There was notable interest in Domino’s new or enhanced products, which were: Thenew A520i – which builds on the successful A-Series and the heritage of thei-Tech range - this highly resilient printer is designed for challenging production environments and comes wrapped in an IP55 marine grade stainless steel cabinet, with IP66 sealed electronics enclosure. It is also the first CIJ printer to incorporate the innovative plenum airflow cooling system, ensuring the printer stays cool whatever the production environment.

The newV230i thermal transfer overprinter (TTO) brings high end features to a mid-range printer, with a more industrial design. Easy to upgrade from existing equipment, and enabling high performance printing along with significant savings, theV230i offers exceptional value in an efficient, robust package.

TheF220i fibre scribing laser features enhanced beam quality for precision marking and sharper contrast which is particularly suited to marking metals, plastics and flexible packaging. Contrast is significantly improved through its unique waveform which can be tailored to suit the substrate.

The D-Series i-Tech 15, which is particularly pertinent to the food and pharmaceutical sectors and can be used to code, for example, stick packs or sachets, for dried or liquid foodstuffs, prior to being wrapped. It ensures too that solutions comply with the serialisation requirements of the European Falsified Medicines Directive (EU Directive 2011/62/EU) with both human readable and 2D datamatrix coding.

QuickDesign, Domino’s updated coding automation software suite, which works across all of Domino’s printer technologies to provide advanced design, print control and connectivity capabilities. This latest edition enables production line printers to support mixed formatted text paragraphs, along with automatic highlighting capabilities enabling the search and identification of keywords. Both features, rare in print machinery, are well-timed for manufacturers in the food, beverage and dairy sectors who will need to highlight allergens in order to comply with the Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU 1169/2011) due to be enforced in December.

M-Series range of print and apply labellers introduce a series of hardware and software enhancements to deliver maximum productivity and meet the ever-growing secondary and tertiary packaging demands across a diverse range of sectors. Including: A tamp applicator system – M200-CW100 – designed to apply corner wrap labels onto adjacent sides of cartons to meet specific customer requirements. M220 Pallet Labeller introduced a package of enhancements including climate kits designed to broaden the range of environments in which the pallet labeller can be utilised.

Also on show was Domino’s latest digital colour ink jet label press, the N610i, which combines the productivity of flexo with the flexibility of digital ink jet technology. Enhanced with a chilled roller option for thermally sensitive substrates and capable of integrating with a 3rd party finishing line, visitors discovered the benefits of bringing label production in-house to simplify production efficiencies, save on inventory and gain further production efficiency.

Sheila Richardson, Domino’s Group Marketing Manager, comments: “We’re certainly pleased with the number and quality of visitors to our stand at this year’s Interpack and see this as a very encouraging sign for business generally. Domino is globally renowned for its meticulous analysis of market trends, which helps the company to accurately develop technologies that help customers capitalise on business opportunities in the coding and marking arena. This was evident in visitor response to our products at our stand, and the quality of the discussions that took place.”
