Atlantic Zeiser delivers track & trace software for a pharmaceutical project in Brazil

  • Publicado el 09 de Febrero de 2015

Libbs, a renowned Brazilian pharmaceutical company, employs the MEDTRACKER software from track & trace expert Atlantic Zeiser. Initiated in late 2014, the Libbs pilot project ensures complete traceability of pharmaceuticals over the whole logistics chain compliant to the Brazilian legislation for the first time. This is an important step in Brazil, where the serialization of pharmaceuticals will become obligatory in several stages until the end of 2016.

The company Rastreabilidade Brasil acted as system integrator, offering the complete implementation of the required track & trace hardware and software systems as well as the operation of the high-level database. In addition to Atlantic Zeiser, inspection system expert scanware electronic GmbH also contributed to the project. Both companies closely cooperated and delivered a turnkey serialization solution for a packaging line. One essential component is Atlantic Zeiser’s modular MEDTRACKER software which ensures versatile, audit-proof generation, distribution, printing, aggregation, and tracking of codes according to all current international regulations.

MEDTRACKER allows for track & trace across parts of a line or across complete lines, production facilities (factory level), and even across a group of companies (enterprise level). Thanks to integrated generic and open interface options, the software also enables the smooth integration of third-party hardware. MEDTRACKER’s great versatility was a key factor for Libbs’ decision.

“The requirements at Libbs and in the Brazilian market in general are very demanding”, explains Stefan Öing, head of the track & trace software division at Atlantic Zeiser. “They stipulate that for each pharmaceutical packaging, every status change must be recorded – up until it is sold in a pharmacy. MEDTRACKER is ideally suited for this task.” Currently, Atlantic Zeiser is working on more retrofits in Libbs’ production facility near São Paulo, where twelve lines must be ready for serialization by late 2016.
