Cyril Luff Metal Decorators are one of the largest independent metal decorators in Europe. Established in 1979 and based at Cwmbran South Wales printing and coating tinplate, tin free sheets and aluminium for many of the household brand names who use metal packaging.

Having experienced considerable growth during the past year Ben Luff Managing Director made the decision to upgrade their Imagesetter based prepress to a large format CtP system and workflow in a bid to enhance the quality and production efficiency.

International Graphics Supplies (IGS) one of Europe’s largest suppliers of refurbished CtP equipment where asked to identify their current prepress needs and future requirements from Luff’s blue chip customer base. Following several meetings with the prepress and press room IGS proposed a refurbished Agfa VLF CtP, new Xitron Harlequin workflow and Epson 9900 proofer with Fuji LH-PCE Thermal plate and processor supplied by Service Offset Supplies (SOS) that was installed in March 2015.

And, according to Luff, it was only a matter of weeks before the investment was paying dividends. "We are seeing a significant reduction in make-ready times on our Crabtree presses and are delighted with the increased quality being achieved on press" .“The installation and support of the IGS technical team has made the transition from conventional platemaking very smooth”.
