Avery Dennison stands out at Labelexpo with innovations that offer enhanced productivity

Avery Dennison will introduce a number of significant innovations designed to drive sustainable growth at Labelexpo Europe 2015 which will be held in Brussels from 29 September until 2 October. “Avery Dennison has once again developed a unique set of label and packaging solutions to help converters meet today’s key challenges,” comments Andrew Crawford, vice president of marketing at Avery Dennison Materials Group Europe. “This year our booth will feature five interactive zones, focusing on the key benefits of enhanced shelf appeal, productivity, sustainability, Select Solutions portfolios and services.”

Converters looking for differentiation and competitive advantage will discover a new emulsion acrylic, general purpose adhesive for paper that is proven to be faster, tougher and broader than comparable products in the market today.

“Faster” operation, because of shortened set-up times, material consistency at high speed and minimised cleaning time - which results in reduced converting costs and freed up capacity. With a ‘time to stick’ of up to 5 times faster than standard products on the market, this “tougher” construction offers up to 60% higher force to peel on cardboard, up to 5 times better air blown dispensing performance, and more than 3 times higher adhesion at lower temperatures (5°C to 0°C - compared to our standard GPP S2000N and multiple competitive products). Moreover its “broader” temperature application range and food and pending fatty food approval expands commercial possibilities for converters.

Two innovations that positively impact shelf appeal are Aqua Opaque, a solution for the wet opacity issues in Wine & Spirits labels (ice bucket test); and AeroDress, a pressure-sensitive solution for aerosols, which opens up new markets for converters as it helps brand owners increase flexibility for late stage differentiation and reduce obsolete stock without compromising on shelf-appeal.

Among the innovations at Labelexpo that focus on sustainability is the introduction of a new bio-based PE product to help end users meet their environmental sustainability goals; and Avery Dennison® Glass Recycling, a proprietary labelling technology that allows clear separation of PSL from glass particles thus facilitating clean glass recycling.

Lastly, Avery Dennison will feature its Select Solutions Portfolio which offers proven application-specific constructions as well as custom-engineered solution capabilities to match precise customer needs. This collection offers 100,000 potential constructions via the company’s Mix & Match™ service, and 15 application-specific portfolios that give label converters a fast and simple route to unique labelling solutions for brand owners. Both are offered with low Minimum Order Quantities and rapid shipping. Additionally, converters can develop high-performance custom-engineered solutions with the Select Solutions team.

During the show, Avery Dennison will also be featured in the Labelexpo Smart Packaging Lab, which allows visitors to take a look at the latest advances in substrates, inks, digital systems and printing, including research tools and materials that interact with electronics. As part of the Smart Packaging Lab, Avery Dennison will feature advanced label material technology including the company’s sophisticated materials that interact with electronics.

Anyone unable to attend Labelexpo will still be able to experience the innovations Avery Dennison will debut at the show and gain access to the information and tools featured in the company’s physical Labelexpo booth through the interactive virtual trade show tool at virtualtradeshow.averydennison.eu coming in mid-September.
