At Fespa Digital 2016 wide-format printer manufacturer Mutoh launched the latest addition to its popular line of ValueJet roll-to-roll sign & display printers, the single head 64” (162 cm) wide ValueJet 1604X. The new printer model features high print quality & precision, productivity, a professional standard configuration including a motorised take-up system for rolls up to 30 kg, simple & intuitive operation and last but not least an affordable price. The compact 1604X is targeted at starting sign makers as well as existing print providers looking for a wider printer, needing extra versatility for frequent material switches or for volume production of full colour stickers.

Engineered & manufactured in Japan, the VJ-1604X integrates the proven and multi-awarded Mutoh ValueJet print technology & reliability. The printer incorporates a piezo drop-on-demand print head capable of firing ink droplets as small as 3.5 pl up to 21 pl. Incorporating Mutoh’s industry leading Intelligent Interweaving technology, a new 360 x 1080 print resolution and three individually controllable heaters, the new ValueJet 1604X will deliver high quality production speeds up to 11.5 m²/h.

The VJ-1604X is also supported by the Mutoh ValueJet Status Monitor software (VSM), enabling the operator to remotely verify the printer, ink and media status from a portable device like a tablet or smart phone. The ValueJet 1604X is suited for the production of long-term outdoor and indoor sign & display prints such as billboards, posters, general signage, exhibition stand graphics, wall coverings, full colour stickers, vehicle graphics, point-of sale displays, etc.

Next to an affordable price, the printer will also offer an excellent return on investment performance, since it can be loaded with two different ink types, i.e. the Mutoh Eco Ultra inks in 220 ml cassettes or litre packs as well as the Mutoh Universal Mild solvent (UMS) inks in litre packs. The litre pack ink supply solution provides the functionality of ink cassettes, combined with the advantages of a bulk ink system. Regular running cost per m² using Mutoh UMS inks is as low as 0.79 EUR. For the UMS inks, Mutoh recently also obtained a pan European Indoor Air Comfort Certificate, which makes the inks ideally suited for the production of certified indoor deco prints.
