ebeam Technologies continues european momentum with Goss Thallo system sale

  • Publicado el 28 de Septiembre de 2016

ebeam Technologies, a brand of the COMET Group, today announced that its electron beam (EB) curing system was an important aspect of the sale of the first Goss Thallo system to a leading Russian packaging converter at drupa. The Thallo 850 system sale, a result of a strategic partnership between Goss International and DG press, is to be configured with EB curing from ebeam Technologies. This will enable instantaneous curing of food-safe inks – an important strategic benefit for every customer producing food packaging.

“We are delighted to be able to work with ebeam Technologies to provide the best EB-cured printing solution for the European market,” says Richard Miedema, Product Manager at Goss International. “We are seeing growing market demand for EB curing as an option and customers are also looking for it more and more because it eliminates the need for photoinitiators in inks and so avoids the risk of food contamination. EB curing is also increasingly important to our Asian customers in countries such as South Korea and China who can eliminate the cost and complexity of VOC removal equipment while meeting stringent emissions controls.”

Karl Swanson, VP Global Sales, ebeam Technologies commented: “We are delighted to work with Goss to offer high quality ebeam curing solutions for flexible packaging. ebeam curing creates a strong cross-linking bond which means inks are completely dry almost instantaneously, eliminating wet ink layers and providing a complete and consistent cure for safe food packaging, including delicate films.”

The Russian customer’s Thallo 850 system will be configured for flexible packaging applications, combining web offset printing units with in-line flexo and coating units, allowing the customer to print high-quality flexible packaging, including seed packets. The installation will be in operation at the customer site near Moscow, Russia, in the first quarter of 2017. The Goss Thallo customer cannot be named for reasons of confidentiality.

ebeam Technologies designs, manufactures, and integrates electron beam technology solutions for global customers and is headquartered in Switzerland with production and engineering facilities in Switzerland and the United States.
