Zeller+Gmelin highlights low migration UV flexo ink series at Labelexpo

  • Publicado el 21 de Septiembre de 2017

Zeller+Gmelin (stand 11A47) will present its new generation of the low migration UVAFLEX FCM Y81-series for printing on food packaging and labels at Labelexpo Europe. The low-migration UV-flexographic printing inks offer a very high degree of migration safety and feature low odor. The ink system contains significantly less substances which are critical to migration. Together with the use of special cross-linked initiators, Zeller+Gmelin has minimized the risk of migration.

The molecular weight of the cross-linked photoinitiators (approx. 1000 Dalton) exceeds that of conventional photoinitiators (< 400 Dalton). In addition, they contain polymerizable groups which participate in the curing and are firmly incorporated in the chemical structure of the printing ink film. These features make the new FCM-system secure.

The formulation of the new ink series completely dispenses with BPA-containing raw materials. They are therefore particularly suitable for the printing of labels, folding boxes and flexible packaging in the food sector. The Uvaflex® FCM-Y81-colors meet, amongst others, the requirements of the current Nestlé Guidance Note dated September 2016.

The new FCM Y81-series is universally applicable on paper and film. In production, the printing ink series is characterized by homogeneous machine behaviour, excellent printability featuring a stable viscosity and very good flow properties also at high machine speeds.

The high color strength allows the reduction of the cell volume of the anilox roller and less ink consumption as well as the combined high-quality printing of screens and solids with one printing plate. The inks of the FCM-Y81-series can be overprinted both in laser printing and the thermal direct or thermal transfer process. It is also suitable for overlacquering and refinement by foil stamping.
