FESPA has confirmed the final programme for its third European Digital Textile Conference, which will take place on Day Two of FESPA Digital 2011 (25th May 2011) at Messe Hamburg. In a series of concise, tightly-focused presentations, a high-calibre line-up of industry experts will explore and explain the diversity of the digital textile sector and the rapid pace of change in technology, business models and opportunities.

The conference features a special focus on “Business Applications of Digital Textile Printing”, followed by a panel discussion on how to identify and leverage opportunities.  Other presentations will look at supporting sustainability and mass customisation in a totally digital supply chain, and the opportunities and challenges of creating “smart fabrics” by printing functional materials using inkjet technology. Technical topics covered include: developments in direct-to-garment printing; merging digital textile printing with traditional rotary printing; the evolution of industrial digital high-speed printing equipment, and printing on polyester fabric with water-based disperse dyes.

Confirmed speakers are:  Dr John Provost, consultant and technical editor of Digital Textile magazine;  Dr Mike Fralix, President and CEO, TC²; Professor Qinguo Fan, University of Massachusetts; Herve Francois, Managing Director, Color Textil Frankenberg; Dr Andy Hancock, Technical Director at Mexar;  Jos Notermans, Business Unit Manager for Stork; Paolo Milini, Sales Manager at MS;  Mike Horsten, owner of ZEMT Consulting;  Xennia Managing Director Dr Alan Hudd;  Mickael Mheidle, CEO and President, Sawgrass Europe;  global technical consultant Sophie Matthews-Paul;  Alan Noble, Managing Director, Cameroon Balloons;  and Kevin Myers, Head of Global Inkjet Business at Huntsman Textile Effects.  John Scrimshaw, Editor of Digital Textile magazine, will moderate the sessions.

FESPA’s Head of Events and New Media, Duncan MacOwan comments: “The FESPA Digital Textile Conference is established as a valued source of international expert opinion and guidance for print service providers who have already embraced textile applications, and those looking to do so as part of a diversification strategy.  With the support of our conference sponsors Hollanders, JTeck3, and Xennia, this year’s speaker programme once again provides vital insights to help printers pursue this path in evolving their businesses for the future.”
