Valvejet printer line extension improves uptime, flexibility and readability

Valvejet printer users can now add ink “on-the-fly” without stopping high-speed production while printing two sides of a case simultaneously, or very large characters on one side, thus enhancing code readability and helping to minimize logistics mistakes. When printing variable information onto cases, manufacturers need to produce legible characters while minimizing coding-related downtime. Today’s line extension lets them reduce logistics errors. Readability is enhanced with the ability to print larger codes and the option of dual-side printing to make content visible from multiple directions. Eastman Kodak and Evolve Additive Solutions, Inc. announced a technology partnership where Kodak will supply Evolve imaging systems, parts and consumables based on the KODAK NEXPRESS digital electrophotographic platform. In addition, the companies have signed Joint Development Agreements for equipment and materials with the goal of helping further develop Evolve’s Selective Thermoplastic Electrophotographic Process (STEP) technology in anticipation of the commercial release in 2020. STEP is Evolve’s proprietary 3D printing technology for additive manufacturing. Kodak has also licensed relevant intellectual property to Evolve in support of the development effort.

GEW reports record number of systems at Labelexpo Americas 2018

GEW has reported that a record number of its UV Curing Systems were in operation at Labelexpo Americas 2018, with GEW lampheads running on the majority of the leading manufacturers’ presses at the show. Dr. Jürgen Dillmann (57) has been Managing Director at BST eltromat International GmbH since June 1, 2018, and is responsible for the Technology division. Dr. Dillmann, whose doctorate is in mechanical engineering, replaces Dr. Johann-Carsten Kipp, who retired at the end of August. For decades, Dillmann has been building up comprehensive know-how in several medium-sized companies within the capital goods industry.
