HP sets sights on EcoPrint to demonstrate why going green is good for print businesses

HP announced initial details of its activities for the forthcoming EcoPrint Europe 2012 event, 26th-27th  September, in Berlin, at which the company is the headline partner. EcoPrint will see HP reiterate its focus on sustainability and, in particular, the commercial benefits achievable for print service providers (PSPs) that deploy technology designed to reduce the impact on the environment. This will be demonstrated via live printing applications on the HP Designjet L26500 Printer, which features water-based HP Latex Inks that produce odourless(1) prints; as well as through educational presentations and discussions.
basysPrint and MacDermid put spotlight on cost-efective varnishing

basysPrint has made spot varnish printing a cost-effective reality following co-operation with MacDermid Printing Solutions. Through the joint development, basysPrint is now able to offer the MacDermid Accent high quality coating plate for packaging and commercial offset printers. The MacDermid coating plate applies spot varnish, as opposed to blanket coverage, on the printed matter via a dedicated fifth printing unit.
Goss International Corporation appoints new CEO

Goss International Corporation (“Goss”) announced a restructuring of management. The Board has appointed Mr. Richard Nichols as CEO of the Company, effective immediately, replacing Mr. Jochen Meissner.  The Board expects that the Goss management team, headed by Mr. Nichols, will undertake active and effective measures to stabilize and expand the Goss leadership position in the industry.

Gallus has notched up another success in the Middle East: Al Mawrid Printing & Advertising Ind. L.L.C., the commercial and packaging printer, has placed an order at drupa 2012 in Dusseldorf (Germany) for a custom configured Gallus ICS 670 inline machine system for producing high-end folding cartons from Gallus Stanz- und Druckmaschinen GmbH. The contract was signed on May 7, 2012 at the Gallus drupa stand.

PrintCity show at drupa that print has multiple futures

PrintCity Alliance members shared their views on the multiple ‘futures’ of print in Hall 6 at drupa, to show that our industry has a strong and vibrant role to play in our multi-media society. Print has Multiple Futures is one of the conclusions from the joint research project between PrintCity and students from the Stuttgart Media University.  This project strongly contributed to the PrintCity Alliance’s new book Print: Seen! Lean & Green, which is published at drupa. Additionally a special Print has Multiple Futures display area within PrintCity aims to trigger visitor interaction and discussion.

KBA successful Drupa boosts business in second half year

At the well-attended 87th annual general meeting in Würzburg of the world’s second-largest press manufacturer, Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA), president and CEO Claus Bolza-Schünemann reported a strong group performance at Drupa, the world’s leading trade fair for the print media industry that took place in May. Contracts worth well over one hundred million euros were signed at the fair in Düsseldorf, most of them for batch-produced sheetfed offset presses. Post-Drupa business is also brisk.

During the last edition of Drupa recently held in Dusseldorf the leaders of Centrexpo Spa – the company organizing the two events – signed a milestone agreement with PEIAC, the association gathering Chinese manufacturers of machinery and materials for the graphic industry. This will ensure a considerable participation of PEIAC member companies at Grafitalia and Converflex.
