Chinese recovered paper imports to decline over next 5 Years
Continued expansion of domestic collection; decelerating recovered paper demand growth and rising prices of imports likely to drive decline. Despite consistent growth of recovered paper (RCP) demand for over a decade, Chinese imports dropped by about 1 million tonnes in 2013. Imports are expected to decline gradually through 2018 due to slowing economic growth, sluggish paper and board demand, new government regulations and limited supply in the exporting regions. These and other key findings were released today in a new study by RISI, the leading information provider for the global forest products industry.

Lintec Graphic Films underpins tribute to shipbuilding industry on the River Wear
For over 600 years, the River Wear – which runs through the North East of England – was the cornerstone of the country’s enormous shipbuilding industry. Paying homage to this, photographer John Kippin launched the Ships that Past project, which celebrated the vessels that used to be constructed in the area. Enlisting the help of wide format digital printer The Rip, the project – with the help of the Lintec Graphic Films’ high quality non-PVC E-2301RC Vitrocolour film – transformed the glass façade of the Sunderland National Glass Theatre, which sits poignantly on the former site of one the shipyards.
Dagmar Rehm joins Koenig & Bauer supervisory board
The register court in Würzburg appointed Dagmar Rehm (50) as new member of the Koenig & Bauer (KBA) supervisory board with effect from 27 March 2014 based on the shareholder representatives’ proposal. This follows Heinz-Joachim Neubürger’s decision on 25 February to leave the KBA supervisory board at his own request. His seat has remained vacant since then.

Fujifilm announces first Inca Onset S40i with white installation in Europe
Fujifilm announces that Arslan Digital in Turkey has taken delivery of the first Inca Onset S40i with double white ink capacity in Europe. Based in Izmir, Arslan Digital is one of Turkey’s leading wide format digital print companies. In operation for 12 years, the company specialises in large format digital printing and outdoor media, serving industries such as FMCG, retail, automotive, banking, real estate and trade fairs. Working predominantly via advertising agencies, including a number of global players, Arslan Digital has now set its sights on expanding into indoor and free standing display units, as well as packaging and corrugated applications.
Agfa Graphics discusses low migration UV Inkjet inks
Agfa Graphics has become the leading supplier of Low Migration inks (LM) UV-curable inkjet inks to system integrators and OEM’s that are building printing solutions. These printing systems are often integrated in a complete production line for printing on foils or labels (sheet-to-sheet, roll-to-roll or roll-to-sheet) or direct onto the package container, thereby also saving the cost of the label material. Kodak solutions increase efficiency and enhance Data Security for Serio
Serio, a leader in the paper-transformation and graphics industries, has installed a CTP system that includes two platesetters, a KODAK MAGNUS VLF platesetter and a KODAK TRENDSETTER VLF platesetter, the KODAK PRINERGY CONNECT Workflow System, KODAK INSITE Prepress Portal  and KODAK Virtual Operating Environment in order to virtualise its workflow servers.
Xeikon extends successful See The Proof campaign
Xeikon, an innovator in digital color printing technology, is inviting packaging and commercial printers to put digital print to the test through its “See The Proof" program, first launched last year. This successful program offers converters and printers a low-threshold way of testing and evaluating the quality of digital printing using their own label, packaging or commercial print projects. Xeikon's dedicated website for this campaign, www.seetheproof.com, is available now through the end of 2014.
