Official Packaging Innovations show bag combines luxury, quality and sustainability
Antalis and sister-company Arjowiggins Creative Papers have teamed up with luxury packaging manufacturer Procos to produce the official show bag for this year’s Packaging Innovations, which takes place at the Business Design Centre, London, from 30th September to 1st October 2014. Athena Graphics has world first with Hybrid software
Belgian company Athena Graphics, one of Europe’s leading pre-press companies for the flexo industry, has a world first following the implementation of Hybrid Software’s new product asset management system, PAM, which has been purchased as part of a suite that includes Cloudflow and Proofscope. The seamless integration into its existing pre-press environment means that Athena is already using the Hybrid Software products to handle some 800 jobs a month.

Heidelberg concludes acquisition of Gallus Holding AG
The full acquisition of Gallus Holding AG as resolved by the Management Board of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) in June 2014 has now been completed. As part of the transaction Ferd. Rüesch AG has been granted 23,000,000 new Heidelberg shares at a face value of € 2.70. By issuing the new shares, the share capital of the company will be increased by € 58,880,000.00 to € 659,040,714.24, divided into 257,437,779 no-par value bearer shares.

IIJ ramps up quality with new iS print engine range
Industrial Inkjet Ltd (IIJ) has launched a new range of cost-effective, compact, single-pass high speed print engines it says will be welcomed by label printers. The IIJ Colour and MonoPrint iS range, which feature the latest printheads from Konica Minolta, are now commercially available with full variable information software. They run at speeds of up to 50 metres per minute in full colour printing or mono using 6 picolitre drop sizes, which is less than half the previous 14pl size, to provide a huge leap forward in print quality.

Cloud Hardware Spending Breaks $4 Billion Mark in 2014 in EMEA, IDC Study Reveals
A new International Data Corporation (IDC) study confirmed that cloud is the major disruption factor in the EMEA infrastructure hardware market, accounting for a growing portion of hardware spending and exerting influence on hardware architectures and vendors' strategies. The overall investment in hardware for cloud environments in EMEA is expected to exceed $4 billion in terms of user value by the end of 2014, with a strong 19% YoY growth. 15% of the infrastructure spend in EMEA will be related to cloud environments in 2014, versus only 8% in 2011. This will grow to more than 22% by 2018.
The worlds most famous paintings under one roof
In an old warehouse in Rotterdam (the Netherlands), the 200 greatest paintings of the Western world are brought together, for the first time ever. Not the real things of course, but high-quality reproductions, all printed with state-of-the-art inkjet technology from Agfa Graphics. No more need to travel to Madrid for Picasso's Guernica or to Oslo for Munch's The Scream. For the interactive exposition 200 Greatest Paintings, art connoisseurs and laymen compiled a list of the two hundred most coveted, valuable and famous artworks in the world. This list includes works from eighty different museums, made by more than hundred artists.
Druckhaus Kaufmann banks on high added value with catalogues and magazines
A new, high-performance sheetfed offset press from KBA has been in operation at Druckhaus Kaufmann in Lahr, Germany, since the end of January. The KBA Rapida 106 equipped with five inking units, a coater and delivery extension prints at speeds of up to 20,000sph. However, the printing firm which was founded in 1816 does not primarily print in sheetfed offset, but will instead use this new press to supplement its web offset business with a focus on producing catalogues and magazines.
iSys Label receives GHS BS5609 Section 3 Certification for the EDGE 850 Label Printer
