Highcon Axis at LxBxH
Highcon revealed today that LxBxH Verpackung nach Mass from Switzerland, beta testing the Highcon Axis web-to-pack solution, has gone live with its online customizable corrugated box ordering system. LxBxH is a 4th generation family business going back to 1922. Its focus is on corrugated board packaging and prides itself on being able to adapt to customers’ changes in delivery date. LxBxH is the first customer using Highcon digital cutting and creasing technology for corrugated substrates and installed the Highcon Euclid II in November 2015. Since then, LxBxH has been pushing the limits of the Highcon technology.
Baldwins Spray Dampening system secures years of high quality printing
After extensive testing of the World2 Spray Dampening system, the Munich based Newspaper printer Süddeutsche Zeitung orders 96 of Baldwin’s World2 spray bars to replace the existing Baldwin Optima spray bars on their manroland Colorman press. The purpose of the world famous German newspaper’s investment is to set up the presses for several years of continued efficient high quality printing.
Stnings Medien relies on digitization solutions from Heidelberg
Stünings Medien GmbH is consistently expanding its factory of the future, “Factory 4.0 with logistics center”, using digitization solutions from Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg). The Krefeld-based media company has relied on Heidelberg solutions for 25 years, starting from the purchase of its first five-color press.
Designs in multiple colors with Atlantic Zeiser in drupa
The drupa 2016 exhibition marks a turning point for track & trace expert Atlantic Zeiser: “We clearly noted strongly increasing interest in finalizing pharmaceutical packaging and labels at the latest possible moment”, says Manfred Minich, CEO of Atlantic Zeiser, summarizing the exhibition. “More and more countries require serialization, and late stage customization of packaged pharmaceuticals is becoming increasingly urgent in view of continuously decreasing lot sizes. A large number of visitors therefore sought contact with us – many of them with specific project enquiries and investment plans.”
KBA takes over Spanish die-cutter producer Iberica AG S.A.
The takeover of Iberica AG S.A. in Spain by German press manufacturer Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA) announced on 23 May 2016 is now complete with the signing of the purchase agreement by Officine Meccaniche G. Cerutti S.p.A. (OMGC) from Italy. The KBA Group expands its extensive portfolio for packaging customers in print finishing with the acquisition of the die-cutter manufacturer based in Barcelona. Iberica with some 60 staff produces medium and large-format flatbed die-cutters for board and corrugated packaging. KBA has been active in this market successfully for some time with its presses. The takeover and integration of Iberica underscores the global KBA Group’s focus on growth markets and greatly improves the Spanish die-cutters’ growth prospects. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price or further details regarding the takeover. For the transaction OMGC has been advised by Fredericks Michael & Co.
Gama International launched at drupa their new viscometers
In the wide range of control systems presented by GAMA at Drupa – hall 10, booth D40 – we launched the new systems G33 and G34 for the control of temperature and viscosity of EB inks, used in the production of flexible packaging. On these systems was focused most of the visitors’ interest. “The flexographic printing system for EB inks was mong the news presented by the manufacturers at Drupa, within the packaging solutions”, says Sante Conselvan, Sales & Marketing Director of GAMA. “The leader companies in the sector presented this kind of machines with the GAMA systems installed for the control of the EB inks: plenty of demos were the demo carried out and they raised great interest. The advantages of these solutions lie in the lower environmental impact and in the colour stability, widened by the ink control and correction. Here the GAMA solutions come into play”.
NoeCha had a very successful drupa
NoeCha technology met with great success at Drupa 2016. The company’s booth attracted many visitors who came to see the live demonstrations scheduled throughout the entire show. Drupa was an opportunity to unveil the new flatbed UV LED inkjet press NoeCha DOT1 and some additional upgrades to the industrial press NoeCha1, consisting of a fully automated loading and uploading panels system.

Konica Minolta achieves successful first trials at drupa for MEMS printheads
Konica Minolta has announced that new printheads being developed leveraging its proprietary MEMS technologies have been successfully trialled for the first time at drupa. MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) technologies form micro-sized mechanical systems on a silicon or glass substrate, which require highly advanced micron-scale fabrication technologies.
