Carton Ideen announced as first global customer for Zund's S3 cutter

Zund has announced its first customer – worldwide – for the recently announced S3 cutter.  Switzerland-based Carton Ideen GmbH has purchased the S3 machine to complement its existing array of Zund equipment. Launched earlier this year, the Zund S3 has a smaller, space-saving, footprint than Zund’s G3 model, but incorporates all the key features and has the same exceptional build quality.  With a revolutionary direct-drive system and ultra-fast Z- and T-axis control, the S3 is built for speed.

For a converter there are two major issues to be taken care of nowadays: keep costs low to preserve margins and rely on a consistent printing result, reachable with the minimum effort in terms of process efficacy. Materials, workforce, handling are the general costs, which must be reduced. Shorten the production process – make it simpler to manage, from start-up to final delivery – and reduce the impact in terms of time and space needed are the key to success for converting companies who face continuous and sudden changes in the market demand and suffer from uncontrolled increase in costs.

Chesapeake takes a lead in digital cutting and creasing at drupa

Mondi reports a high number of leads and new OEM partnerships following drupa 2012

Mondi, the global paper and packaging manufacturer, was one of 1,850 exhibitors at drupa 2012. Despite the decrease in attendance from drupa 2008 (drupa reported 315,500 visitors – a decrease of 75,000), Johannes Klumpp, Marketing and Sales Director for Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, contends that drupa 2012 lacked none of the innovation and dynamism that is now synonymous with the printing and paper trade fair. “There were a lot of exciting new developments at this year’s drupa and a sense that the industry is gaining momentum in terms of new digital and hybrid printing technologies,” said Klumpp.
HP drives record results at drupa 2012 with new digital printing solutions

HP announced that its performance at drupa 2012  surpassed results from any other graphic arts tradeshow in its history, further validating HP’s success in leading the analogue-to-digital transformation. Demand for HP’s new digital printing solutions significantly exceeded the company’s goals for all regions and product lines. Results included: Orders from more than 200 customers across 55 countries, Thousands of qualified sales leads, Record levels of booth attendees, with more presentations and live demonstrations than at any previous show.
drupa trade show gets financial year 2012/2013 off to a positive start to Heidelberg

Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG (Heidelberg) draws a positive balance of the drupa 2012 trade show. As expected, the show delivered a significant stimulus to investment in the print media industry. "The level of incoming orders during the show indicates that confidence within the industry in returning. The investment backlog is continuing to unwind in many parts of the world. We have received almost 2,000 orders from over 80 countries, including some 550 for sheetfed offset presses alone. The volume of orders at the show is therefore equivalent to around half of the production of printing units over the past financial year," stated Bernhard Schreier, Heidelberg CEO.

Unlike any previous drupa, the 15th staging of the world's largest and most important print media fair demonstrated the capacity for innovation and the sustainability of the printing industry and welcomed a huge number of visitors. The increased number of visitors from South and Central America, who made up 8.5 per cent of the total number of visitors compared with 7.4 per cent in 2008, is particularly remarkable. KBA-MePrint AG regards this high-profile event as a success. Visitor numbers, the level of international representation and the quality of the visitors all exceeded expectations.
Mimaki enjoys major success at drupa 2012

Mimaki reported a successful conclusion to its presence at drupa 2012, the world’s leading print exhibition, where the company launched a number of new products. Attendees provided very positive feedback about the Mimaki’s new JFX500 series, a next-generation high-speed UV-LED flatbed inkjet printer, the new JV400-LX, a wide-format printer that uses low curing latex inks, and the new JV400-SUV, an inkjet printer equipped with solvent UV ink. Gidue extends the drupa experience with open house event

GIDUE provided the perfect complementary experience to drupa by staging at an Open House dedicated to the event. The company’s Florence factory has been busy for 15 days, accommodating converters who extended their trip to drupa in Dusseldorf and visited GIDUE’s manufacturing plant in Italy. The Open House proved very popular, with GIDUE securing a number of sales at the event, building on its strong sales growth during 2012.
