Grafikontrol showcased its full line of press controls at World Publishing Expo 2015

Grafikontrol, a leader in manufacturing press controls for the printing industry, attended the World Publishing Expo exhibition. The company’s automatic control systems and colour management software, that provide cutting-edge solutions to the publishing segment, developed a range of register control systems for web-offset printing presses for the commercial and newspaper segments, each tailored to a specific requirement.

The CR25 is an automatic colour register control system with MicroMarks that can be positioned anywhere on the printed web. In addition to the basic system, the following options are available: the CR25DE module enables automatic closed loop density control by using the same register MicroMarks; the CR25FO module allows the automatic control of width variations in the printed web and skew of colour print register (Fan-Out control); the CR25TPLT system allows the automatic control of the longitudinal and sideway register of one or more webs on folders, rotary cutters and perforators.

Besides the register controls, Grafikontrol also developed other systems that control additional aspects of the printing process, including: PM3, a ‘paper monitoring’ web surface analysis system that continuously monitors paper from the reel stand up to the press delivery; it allows the operator to evaluate for each roll the average value of white paper in CIEL*a*b* coordinates; COLORSCAN, an automatic closed-loop colour control using in-line spectrophotometric and densitometric measurements, without MicroMarks reading. With its user-friendly and fully automatic start-up features, it can be installed on all types of commercial and newspaper presses for both narrow-web and sheet-fed printing.

Grafikontrol introduced the SYSTEME CHROMATIQUE, an innovative colour management software that uses a unique colour space curve, “Only-1-Profile”, suitable for any conventional printing process and any kind of paper, according to ISO 12640-3. It drastically reduces waste on make-ready, improves the print quality, is easy to use (no calibration process or characterizations are required) and increases the repeatability and productivity.

“World Publishing Expo, organized by WAN-IFRA is a must-attend for the newspaper and publishing segments. We have been at every show since the beginning and have closely followed the market evolution over the years”, comments Paolo De Grandis, sales director and Grafikontrol shareholder. “The changes that have occurred in newspaper printing have not altered the need for quality control, on the contrary, and now that this industry has fully embraced digital printing, Grafikontrol is ready to support this move by offering systems that meet the required quality standards.”
