Xeikon announces its participation to Labelexpo Europe 2011. At the show, the company will showcase an impressive line-up of five solutions dedicated to digital label printing, including digital label presses, converting lines and integrated software. On stand 45 in Hall 9, Xeikon will present a wide web label solution with its Xeikon 3500, the most productive digital label press available on the market. The show will also mark the launch of the DCoat500 that will be showcased ’in World Première’ as the in-line finishing solution of the Xeikon 3500.

According to a recent survey of Western European consumers, social networking sites such as Facebook have become common destinations for people to interact. Around half of digital camera owners in this survey reported using a social networking site on a regular basis, with the majority engaging in photo sharing. Respondents from the UK were most likely to engage in this type of photo sharing.
INKday conference series insiders come to Siegwerk for current infos and trends in the printing world

On June 9 and 10, the main event of the successful INKday series for Siegwerks customers and business partners took place in Siegburg. Over 300 participants from various countries came to Siegwerk headquarters to get the latest news from the world of printing, to find out about innovations and know-how. Leading experts from the trade, consumer, brand article, package printing and printing ink sectors came to contribute. The event also marked the 100th anniversary of the brand Siegwerk. It was a full success, said CEO Herbert Forker. Instead of normal anniversary celebrations, we offered exciting discussions on future-oriented topics to our partners.

Canon and Océ combine Swiss printing operations

Canon and Océ are to combine their printing operations in Switzerland, following the completion, on 9 March 2010, of the public offer of Canon Inc. for Océ outstanding common shares, in an effort to create the overall No. 1 presence in the printing industry. To facilitate this combination, Canon Europa N.V., a 100% subsidiary of Canon Inc., and Océ N.V. have reached agreement for Océ N.V. to sell 100% of Océ (Schweiz) A.G. to Canon Europa N.V. Océ (Schweiz) A.G. accounts for 3-4% of overall Océ revenues. The transaction price amounts to EUR 15.9 million.
Sunwrap.dk win wrap cup series at Fespa Digital 2011

FESPA Digital 2011 played host to the third lap of the FESPA Wrap Cup Masters Series in Hamburg last week, where Danish printers Sun Wrap took first place. Lindahl Wrapping, also from Denmark, came second. The competitive series, which is taking place in eight stages over three years, is set to culminate in a grand World Wrap Cup Master finale at FESPA 2013 in London. In London, SunWrap.dk will compete against Miller Decals, winners of the FESPA Americas 2011 leg, and winners of future wrap cup competitions.

viscom düsseldorf 2011 looking for most creative light advertising

Ulf Tranow receives drupa Prize 2011

This year’s drupa Prize goes to Ulf Tranow from Düsseldorf for his doctoral thesis “Solidarity and Sociological Analysis – a Theoretical Contribution to the Concept of Solidarity”. With this annual prize, drupa – the world’s biggest trade fair for the printing and media industry – honours the best doctoral thesis of the Faculty of Humanities at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. The 2011 award was conferred by Martin Weickenmeier (President of drupa 2012), Werner M. Dornscheidt (President & CEO of Messe Düsseldorf) and Prof. H. Michael Piper, Ph.D (President of the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf) at the Industry Club in Düsseldorf on 23 May.

Manfred Jurkewitz, Head of Research and Development at Heidelberg, provided an insight into the topic and pinpointed printed organic electronics as one approach that could change the face of printing technology in the future.

Finally! The current drupa song is mixed and available online. One year before the start of drupa on 03 May 2012, and thus also coinciding with interpack and the Eurovision Song Contest Finals in Düsseldorf, this potential hit has been released. The three-minute song features a modern dance-floor sound and could easily become a real drupa anthem for the international community. It is difficult to stay seated, and singing along is no problem at all. “Get ready to succeed“!
